What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel is the process in which an exfoliating chemical solution is applied to skin by a certified peel specialist. The chemical solution applied (depending on skin concern) speeds up the process of cellular turnover which allows new fresh skin to show
Can anyone have a chemical peel?
Most skin types can have a chemical peel however a consultation is required to determine suitability
Are all peels the same?
No all peels are different and the peel required to meet your specific skin concern will be discussed at consultation.
How many peels will I need?
Whilst you will see a difference in your skin after one peel, we do recommend a series of peels 4 to 6weeks apart.
Are there any preparations needed before the peel?
Yes there are a series of things you must do to prepare your skin, you must stop using any products on your skin that contain retinol ideally for 4 weeks before. You must avoid any sun bed use, waxing or electrolysis for 2 weeks before.
Is there any aftercare post peel?
Yes post procedure you must follow a list of instructions and apply both moisturiser and sunscreen in the immediate 5 days. You must avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours and direct sun or tanning bed for 2 weeks.
What will my skin look like post peel?
Some redness and mild irritation is expected initially. Flaking typically begins within 2 to 4 days. The level of flaking will depend on your skins sensitivity and flaking alone does not determine the outcome of peel. You must resist the temptation to pick your skin as this can prolong healing and lead to scarring.
